Mother’s Day is fun and all — what with the “special” breakfast you cook for everyone else, the homemade gifts that inevitably involve glitter. But our team was excited to learn about an initiative aimed at creating a new holiday for moms — Mother’s Monday, this year on May 11.
Mother’s Monday is an initiative launched by our friend Gayatri Agnew over at Walmart. The idea is simple: “At home on Sunday you’ll celebrate Mother’s Day with your family. When you come back to work on Monday it can feel like you have to check your motherhood at the door. What if instead we acknowledge it, celebrate it, and help corporate culture adapt to it?”
The folks at Mother’s Monday have curated workshops, panels and chats for the day, including a Twitter chat with our very own, Executive Director Tami Forman! She’ll be live on Twitter at 3:30-4:30pm EST to chat about redefining motherhood and work with Suzanne Brown of Mompowerment, Liuba Grechen Shirley of Vote Mama Foundation, and Christine Michel Carter of Mompreneur and Me. Make sure to join Mother’s Monday’s events to commemorate the multi-faceted passions of Mothers from caregiving, creativity, building mentorships, and adjusting work/life balance in the time of COVID-19.
See you Monday!
